Honesty

To truly be happy in life you have to be honest with yourself and others and expect honesty from everyone around you whether it be your family, friends, fellow co-workers, etc. Be sincere and people will react in kind. Being honest with yourself will entice others to follow your lead, at least as it relates to you. An honest path is difficult to follow even though it is the path of least resistance. It’s difficult because most of us aren’t used to it. We usually opt for “little white lies” and so we train ourselves to not be completely honest. We think it will spare someone’s feelings or it’s just not worth the hassle to be honest. The biggest hurt is a lie!!! And with that comes the biggest hassle of having to remember those lies. The path of least resistance will always be the open path in front of you of the truth. Practice honesty and that path becomes wider and easier to follow. Don’t concern yourself about how others will react to your honesty…you have no control over that. Remember that you have control over yourself and how YOU react to others. React in honesty and sincerity.

Practicing honesty starts within YOU. Don’t lie to yourself or compromise on your true desires. Honesty is a side of our moral character that suggests positive attributes such as integrity, truthfulness, and straightforwardness, including straightforwardness of conduct, with the absence of lying, cheating, theft, etc. Honesty means being trustworthy, loyal, fair, and sincere.

Start every new endeavor in your life with honesty. Be honest about yourself and what you like or don’t like, about what you want to accomplish and what you’re willing to accept to accomplish it. It will make every interaction and every situation much more meaningful and easier to manage. Your experiences will be filled with peace and your character will be what you want it to be. Don’t get discouraged if you falter, accept it, learn from it, and most of all persevere and continue your path to your perfect attitude.

Honesty and integrity are absolutely essential for success in life – all areas of life. The really good news is that anyone can develop both honesty and integrity.
